It's seems more and more likely that some kind of regulation will soon be in place for the use of the terms 'psychotherapist' and psychotherapy.
However there seems to be a growing number of professional therapists that are opposed to the idea of regulation. both in the sense the actual regulations currently being discussed, and the whole notion of regulation itself.
What are the views of the forum? is this a good thing, which will protect the public in general, offering them a resource that will list reputable therapists who are adequately trained, regulated and insured. Or will this limit the range and scope of therapy currently offered, and create a rigid structure thats simply not applicable to the psychotherapeutic profession? And will it actually matter to the public at large? Or is this argument that only really matters to those of us on the inside of the profession. Andy M.
